Overview

This release delivers performance optimizations across SmartDocs, SmartRegs, and the Platform. Key focus areas include PDF export performance, and PDF ingestion quality.

What's New

SmartSuite Platform

1. Enhanced Access Management UI for Permissions

Improved the access management interface for an improved role selection experience. Users can now more easily compare permissions across different roles when selecting multiple items in the permission matrix.

SmartDocs

1. PDF Export Performance Optimizations

Implemented PDF export caching strategies including storage-based caching for single version PDFs with cache key generation based on document, version, and export settings hash. PDFs from published versions are now streamed from storage for drastically faster performance.

1. PDF Ingestion Performance Optimizations

Implemented changes to the PDF ingestion feature to provide more reliable results for the document structure, text formatting, layout, tables, and lists. This optimization effort is ongoing.

Bug Fixes & Improvements

Platform

• Improved system resilience by properly handling failed Permitio responses during policy deletion with automatic rollback of database operations

• Added support for faster onboarding workflows with improved organizational unit (OU) management, including the ability to issue seats during onboarding and faster access group profile assignment.

• Enhanced access denied state handling on permission-guarded pages to show blank state instead of immediate "access denied" message while permissions load

• Implemented dynamic navigation logic to determine which access management page users land on based on their available permissions

• Added seat assignment permission checks to prevent unauthorized access to the seats section

• Refactored permission action categories to improve maintainability and reduce hardcoded mappings

• Enhanced Auth cache abstraction with improved service-based handling for different authentication contexts (MFA, federated metadata)

• Improved organization unit (OU) deletion protection for permanent OUs required by Tech Log integration

• Enhanced MFA workflows with support for code resend functionality, better error messages when users enter incorrect codes, and improved handling of edge cases during password setup and reset flows.

SmartDocs

• Fixed HTML/PDF display issues in regulations containing complex formatting and numbered lists

• PDFs from published versions are now streamed from storage for drastically faster performance.

• Improved PDF export buffer handling by refactoring PDF export to return Buffer instead of Stream, enabling consistent format conversion

• Fixed document context availability for PDF uploads to match SmartDocs behavior - context now available on publish rather than upload

• Enhanced autosave performance and reliability during active editing

• Fixed AI editing agent to properly handle suggestion rejection without unintended document saves

• Fixed unsaved changes UI behavior when switching from editor to reader mode without saving

SmartRegs

• Fixed regulation formatting display issues with lists and nested bullet points

• Improved comparison view scroll behavior and content fade effects

• Enhanced full view display for regulations containing tables and images

• Fixed AI chat response routing to prevent unexpected new chat creation

• Resolved concurrent chat session blocking by implementing centralized agent session management

• Improved display of regulation items containing complex formatting, tables, and images. Enhanced comparison view to display regulation content more clearly with better highlight rendering for change visualization.

End-User Impacts

• SmartDocs users will experience significantly faster PDF preview loading.

• PDF import functionality currently does not handle the following formatting elements:

  • Table borders

  • Image sizing

  • Image alignment

  These are known limitations that we are actively working on. Imported PDFs may not preserve these formatting attributes from the original document. This is a priority for upcoming releases.

• No support impacts in this release.

Notes

• Editor performance improvements are transparent to end users but will be noticed through reduced typing lag
