Overview
This release introduces Actions on Defects, giving teams a dedicated way to log and track incremental work on a defect without changing its status — from part orders and inspection outcomes to notes from engineering or ops. It also introduces SmartSuite integration, enabling SSO and MFA support for Tech Log operators for the first time. The release further extends PDF report coverage with signature names, engine hours, airframe cycles, and planned fuel uplift fields, and resolves several display and data integrity bugs across iPad and Core.
What's New
1. Actions on Defects
-
Available on both the web dashboard (via a new Actions tab in the defect drawer) and iPad (via the defect menu), Actions lets your team log incremental work against a deferred or open defect — things like noting a part has been ordered, recording an inspection outcome, or flagging that ops has been consulted — without touching the defect's lifecycle state. Each action captures a title, description, and optional attachments, and is timestamped and attributed to the user who logged it.
All actions appear in a dedicated timeline view on the defect, giving pilots, maintenance, CAMO, and ops a shared, chronological record of everything that's happened. It's a simple but meaningful way to keep everyone on the same page — no more chasing updates across emails or WhatsApp threads. (TL-7413, TL-6982, TL-7281, TL-7280, TL-6984, TL-6985, TL-6973, TL-7507)
Actions can be enabled per operator, and the label can be customised to match your internal terminology. (TL-7384, TL-7300, TL-7418)
2. SmartSuite Integration & SSO
Operators can now integrate Tech Log with TrustFlight SmartSuite, unlocking authentication and platform capabilities that aren't available in Tech Log standalone.
The most significant of these is SSO support — by routing authentication through SmartSuite, operators can leverage their existing identity provider to give users single sign-on access to Tech Log. For operators not using SSO, SmartSuite's native authentication also supports MFA, adding an extra layer of security without requiring SSO setup. User accounts are created and managed within SmartSuite, while application-level permissions remain configured in Tech Log as normal.
Beyond authentication, onboarding to SmartSuite opens the door to the wider TrustFlight platform — including SmartDocs, SmartRegs, and future modules — giving operators a consolidated environment across TrustFlight products.

3. PDF Report Enhancements
Signature Names on SRPs: Sector Report PDFs now display the name of the user associated with each signature, providing clearer attribution on generated documents. (TL-7235)
Engine Hours in Hours:Minutes Format: Engine hours brought forward and carried forward are now displayed in hours:minutes format in the flight overview section of PDF reports, replacing the previous decimal format. (TL-7382)
Airframe Cycles Carried and Brought Forward: Airframe cycle carried forward and brought forward fields are now available in PDF report templates for both trips and trip updates. (TL-7192)
Planned Fuel Uplift on Trip Updates: Planned fuel uplift values added via trip updates are now included in PDF report output. (TL-7314)
Bug Fixes & Improvements
iPad Fixes
Field Data Lost After Minimizing App: Fixed an issue introduced in v1.57 where data entered into certain fields was lost if the app was minimized and reopened. (TL-7417)
CAT A Rectification Limitations Disappearing: Fixed a bug where rectification limitations entered for a CAT A defect would disappear immediately after entry. (TL-7388)
Custom Field Ordering: Fixed an issue where custom fields configured with an "Insert After" position were not displaying in the correct order on the app. (TL-7122)
Defect Timeline Not Refreshing: Fixed an issue where the defect timeline sidebar did not update to show a newly created action without the user navigating away and back. (TL-7425)
Core & API Improvements
Engine Maintenance Due Hours: Resolved an issue where incorrect due hours were being sent to the iPad for engine maintenance items, causing maintenance to appear due at the wrong intervals. (TL-7439)
Overdue Engine Maintenance Display: Fixed an issue where engine maintenance items were incorrectly shown as overdue on the iPad after initial aircraft totals were entered. (TL-7437)
MX Item Sync Error for Engines: Resolved a sync error that occurred when opening certain aircraft with engine maintenance items configured. (TL-7469)
Custom Flight Identifier Sync: Fixed an issue where the custom flight identifier was not being accepted by the server during iPad sync. (TL-7479)
End-User Impacts
All Users: Custom field ordering corrections apply automatically.
SmartSuite Integration: Operators who have enabled SmartSuite integration will now sign in to Tech Log through SmartSuite. Existing Tech Log credentials are not affected unless your organisation has been onboarded to SmartSuite.
Support Impacts
Engine maintenance due hour and overdue display fixes apply automatically for all affected operators.
Operators wishing to enable defect actions or configure custom action labels should contact their administrator.
SmartSuite integration is available on request. Operators interested in enabling SSO or MFA through SmartSuite should contact the TrustFlight support team.
