Reference Settings
This is the Reference Settings screen – it allows organisations to configure and manage their own Tags, Abbreviations and Definitions within the system. Once setup these can be linked to various created items within the system.
Tags Tab:
Tags are widely used across the aviation industry to support policies, processes, legislation, regulations, and procedures. Tagging provides the ability to create 'virtual labels' or 'keywords' that can be attached to different items, such as documents.
Once tags have been created and associated to items they allow for;
- Efficient Searching: the ability to quickly find individual or groups of items using these tags.
- Hierarchical Organisation: the ability to build a tag hierarchy using parent and child groups. These structured tag groups can be viewed and searched at all levels.
Once tags have been created within your site, they can be added to documents to improve organisation, accessibility, and compliance traceability.
- Search: Allows managers to enter text queries to find a specific Tag.
- + Add Tag: Allows managers the ability to create a Tag.
-
Columns: The page is split into columns, these provide a summary of the Tag Name, the number, or amount of Documents that are associated to that tag, a Created Date for when the tag was created, and lastly an Actions column.
The Actions column allows a manager to edit or delete a created Tag.
- Pagination: The display is organised into numbered pages. This allows you to scroll through the pages of created Tags.
Abbreviations Tab:
The abbreviations tab allows you to create a shortened form of a word or phrase. It is used to save time, space, or effort in writing and speaking. Abbreviations are commonly used within aviation in the form of acronyms.
The abbreviations tab allows managers to create abbreviations and associate these to items such as documents.
Once created these abbreviations can be used to search for items that have a specific abbreviation associated to them.
- Search: Allows managers to enter text queries to find a specific Abbreviation.
- + Add abbreviation: Allows managers the ability to create an abbreviation.
-
Columns: Similar to Tags the Abbreviations screen is split into columns, these provide a summary of the Abbreviation Name, a Definition of the abbreviation, an Updated Date (when it was last updated), and lastly an Actions column.
The Actions column allows a manager to edit or delete created Abbreviations.
- Pagination: The display is organised into numbered pages. This allows you to scroll through the pages of created abbreviations.
Definitions Tab:
The definitions tab enables the creation of aviation-specific definitions for commonly used terms related to concepts or procedures in the industry.
For instance, 'autopilot' is a widely used term in aviation. It refers to an electronic system that controls an aircraft's trajectory without continuous manual input from the pilot.
This can be expanded to describe a flight control system that automatically navigates an aircraft along a set flight path by managing its attitude, altitude, heading, and sometimes speed, thereby reducing the pilot's workload during lengthy flights or challenging conditions.
The definitions tab also allows managers to create aviation-specific references linked to documents. Once created these definitions can be used to search for items that have a specific definition associated to them.
- Search: Allows managers to enter text queries to find a specific definition.
- + Add definition: Allows managers the ability to create a definition.
-
Columns: Similarly to Tags and abbreviations the screen is split into columns, these provide a summary of the Term (short name), Definition, an Updated Date (when it was last updated), and lastly an Actions column.
The Actions column allows a manager to edit or delete created definitions.
- Pagination: The display is organised into numbered pages. This allows you to scroll through the pages of created abbreviations.
