This article explains how users can access and view documents within Centrik.
Depending on how a document has been uploaded, documents may be available as:
- PDF documents
- Other uploaded file types
- Text-only documents
- Hyperlink documents
The viewing experience may vary depending on:
- The document type
- Browser behaviour
- Whether PDF viewing is supported
- How the document has been configured and distributed within Centrik
Document Access and Distribution
Access to documents within Centrik is controlled using Distribution settings.
Document Managers can configure document folders so that documents are distributed to specific roles within the system. Users assigned to those roles will then receive access to the relevant documents within the folder.
Distribution settings can also be configured so that:
- Selected roles (and therefore the users assigned to those roles) receive notifications when documents are published or revised
- Users within selected roles may be required to complete Mark as Read actions for specific documents
This role-based distribution model helps ensure that users only see documents that are relevant to their responsibilities and operational requirements.
If you believe a document is missing or inaccessible, contact your Centrik internal administrator or Document Manager
Viewing an Uploaded PDF Document
PDF documents can usually be viewed directly within your web browser using the browser’s built-in PDF viewer.
The exact appearance and available tools may vary depending on your browser. The example screenshots in this article are based on the Google Chrome PDF viewer.

- Opening the document from a hyperlink contained within a notification email
(If the Notify option has been configured for your assigned role, you may also receive email notifications containing direct links to newly published or revised documents.)

Viewing an Uploaded Document (Non-PDF File Types)
Some uploaded file types cannot be displayed directly within the browser PDF viewer.

Steps
1 - Navigate to the required document.
2 - Select the document title.
3 - Select the Download button for the document.
4 - Open the downloaded file using the appropriate local application.
Viewing a Text-Only Document
If enabled within Centrik, some documents may be configured as text-only documents.
Text-only documents provide a useful way to publish quick informational or alert-style content that may not require a formal uploaded document.
A common example of this could include:
- Crew notices
- Operational updates
- Short-term alerts
- Informational bulletins
These documents are displayed directly within the Centrik interface rather than as uploaded files.
Text-only documents can benefit from Rich Text formatting, allowing Document Managers to create clearer and more engaging content without requiring a formal uploaded document.
Depending on system configuration, available Rich Text options may include:
- Headings
- Bold formatting
- Italic formatting
- Strikethrough formatting
- Hyperlinks
- Bullet lists
- Numbered lists
- Indentation controls
Steps
1 - Navigate to the required document.
2 - Select the document title.
3 - The document content will open directly within Centrik.
Additional Notes
- Text-only documents may display differently on smaller screens or mobile devices.
- Some content formatting depends on browser compatibility.
Viewing a Hyperlink Document
Hyperlink documents redirect users to an external website, system, or online resource.
Steps
1 - Navigate to the required document.
2 - Select the document title.
3 - The linked website or resource will open.
Additional Notes
Access to the external resource depends on:
- User permissions
- External system availability / accessibility
- Internet connectivity
Some external systems may require:
- Additional authentication
- VPN access
- Separate user accounts
