Edit Locking prevents multiple users from editing the same page at the same time, protecting your data from accidental overwrites and ensuring smooth collaboration.
How it works
When a user begins editing a page, the system automatically locks it, allowing only that user to make changes until they Save or Cancel.
Other users who open a locked page will see a notification indicating that it’s currently being edited.
Users can Request to Edit, sending a prompt to the current editor to coordinate handover.
If selected, the current editor will receive the following prompt, after a few seconds.
If the same user attempts to edit the page in multiple browser tabs, the system provides a clear, detailed prompt to avoid confusion and conflicting edits.
Currently, the Edit Locking feature has been implemented in several key areas, including:
- Safety cases
- Compliance audits, specifically within sections and items
- Compliance findings
- Workflows, covering sections, steps, and the management of change processes
By default, this feature is enabled to provide immediate protection. However, if necessary, it can be deactivated.
This feature offers a strong safeguard for data integrity, especially in environments where many users work simultaneously.
